We are thrilled to announce that our art gallery has been named to the list of of the 10 Best Wineries with Art!
The Markham Gallery has been home to the works of many talented artists, including Harold and Peggy Francis, who recently completed their artist in residence. They were also featured in the article that named Markham’s art gallery to the list.
We’re kicking off even more exciting art news with the installation of works from Philippe Gandiol. A Northern California painter, Gandiol was born in Paris and moved to California in 1975. He has been painting with oils for over 20 years. He pursued an independent program of study taking classes in France, San Francisco and Sacramento and with several renowned West Coast painters. Philippe likes to paint landscapes, cityscapes en plein air and still life and models in the studio.
He works almost exclusively from life believing that only in life can he find the full range of light and color he wants in his paintings. He is actively involved with the California artist community, art events and juried art festivals where he has won many awards. He teaches both privately and at the Davis Art Center. As an instructor, Philippe is appreciated as a thorough, supportive and inspiring mentor.
Select works from his collection will be on display in the Markham Gallery from January 15 through April 15, 2019.
We’re also hosting a special opening reception on January 26 from 2pm-4pm. Join us as we enjoy Gandiol’s featured works and the music of solo guitarist Michael Belair. Admission is free and no reservations are necessary.
The Markham Art Gallery is open to the public daily from 10am to 5pm with free admission.
